Karachi, 7th October 2022: The Indus Earth Trust, a Pakistan-based not-for-profit organization working in the area of sustainable development has partnered with Paksef, acting as the fiscal sponsor. The aim is to help reconstruct sustainable and ecologically friendly homes for flood affectees in Pakistan, with a specific focus on the provinces of Sindh and Bolochistan.

Under the leadership of Shahid Sayeed Khan, founder of Indus Earth Trust and a highly qualified Environmental Architect from the UK the homes will be built using locally sourced materials from within the local communities. The main construction material is compressed earth blocks.

It will cost Rs 800,000 (or US$ 4,000) to build one house. That includes manufacturing compressed earth blocks, locally sourced labor, and other building materials. Our aim is to not only build flood affectees homes but also to support the local economies of the towns and villages we’re operating in. The first 15 to 20 homes will be built in Mirpur Sakhro, which is 94 Km or 2 hours’ drive from Karachi.
